From March 1st to October 31st, our conservation team works to protect, document, and support nesting sea turtles and their hatchlings. Our scope of work includes documenting crawls, marking nests, excavating and inventorying these nests after they hatch, and reporting all collected data to further contribute to state-wide conservation efforts.
Our conservation team is authorized to conduct these activities under Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Marine Turtle Permit #100.
Florida beaches are a critical environment for both threatened and endangered sea turtle nesting populations. Our program is one of many across the state of Florida that share the same mission: to help identify and minimize human impacts on sea turtles. Our focus is particularly on nests within the 2.8 miles of Highland Beach.
We are always looking to partner with other highland beach entities and properties to provide educational experiences and outreach opportunities. Conservation education is a pillar of our program and we want our community to feel empowered and involved in the betterment of our beach. Please reach out below to partner with us.
